About Us
Foothills Food Group, LLC ("FFG") was founded in 2019 by the husband and wife team of George Buell and Megan Kelly for the purpose to acquire, grow and further develop the decades-old all-natural, nut-free meal replacement protein bars known as Avalanche Bars (https://avalanchebars.com). Upon acquisition, the operation moved to a commercial kitchen in Greenville, SC.
In 2021 local small business investor SLG Investment Holdings, LLC took a majority stake in the company with the goal of growing the current operations as well as looking for new opportunities to develop or acquire additional product lines which could be complementary to current offerings.
Avalanche Bars were created in the early 2000s when the mother of a competitive snowboarder couldn't find a good nut-free meal replacement solution for her son to carry with him on the slopes. Since "necessity is the mother of invention," this mother began creating the perfect all-natural solution for her son. Fast forward a few decades, and what started in one family's kitchen has moved to a commercial kitchen and is now available to everyone in six great flavors.
Starting with an all-natural base of rolled oats, flaxseed, sunflower kernels, and honey, with no added refined sugars, and is 100% nut-free, FFG offers six great flavor combinations in a bar that is on average 50% larger than a standard protein bar in today's marketplace.
